Biography - Susan Shaw's oil paintings are infused with a vibrant color sense and a flair for abstraction. They reflect her love of landscape, and capture her interest in her natural surrounds of atmosphere and light. While painting imagery that resonates emotionally, she focuses on strong composition and energetic design. Quality of surface she finds essential - the way edges transition and shapes meet, allowing one's eye to move easily from one area to the next and be held within the painting.
Active in exhibiting her work, Shaw's work has been selected for many national exhibits, has received numerous awards, and is receiving attention on the national art scene. Her ongoing challenge as a painter is to interpret what she sees and feels, and how she chooses to convey this to the viewer - always an ongoing process.
